The CDC Story  |  Meet Our CEO  |  Meet Our President

Jose Ortega, Founder and CEO of CDC Builders, ensures every CDC project meets his rigorous standards and attention to detail. This has led to a proven track record of experience, craftsmanship and quality as well as countless lifelong relationships with satisfied clients.

Over the past 30 years, Jose has contributed greatly to South Florida’s growth, especially following Hurricane Andrew when he built and rebuilt numerous homes in Miami-Dade and other affected counties. Today, he continues to be at the heart of the region’s evolution via the construction of cultural centers including the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation’s (CIFO) exhibition space and Oak Plaza, a parking lot transformed into a public plaza just north of Downtown Miami that includes12,800 square feet of new retail, office, and restaurant space.

In addition, Jose led the renovation of many of South Florida’s most prestigious hotels including the spa, ballroom and common areas of the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne; the renovation of the Coral Gables Westin Colonnade’s ballrooms; the renovation of the Hilton McAlpin Hotel in Miami Beach’s Art Deco District; and a new 245-room hotel in Hollywood Beach.

Previously, Jose developed projects including Charleston Place, 110-unit townhouse project; and Cambridge Park, a 102-unit townhouse project in Boca Raton, Florida. In addition, Jose constructed the Vines Country Club consisting of 400-units surrounded by an 18-hole golf course and a 40,000 square foot clubhouse in Fort Myers, Florida. Following that, Jose built the prestigious Galen Medical Office building in Boca Raton, Florida.

The Florida State University alumnus with a degree in Marketing and Management actively supports the South Florida chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

Jose grew up and still lives in the Village of Key Biscayne with his wife Eileen where he is deeply involved in the city’s developmental and zoning endeavors. He also participates as a board and long-term planning council member of the Key Biscayne Yacht Club.
