History

Jose Ortega

CDC Builders was founded in 1992 by Jose Ortega, CEO, who already had nearly two decades of construction experience at that time. Industry professionals who joined the newly-formed company at the outset remain part of CDC’s team today. This continuity is a mark of CDC’s stability, integrity, and reputation for quality work.

After first gaining recognition as builders of high-end homes, the company extended its high-quality work into the commercial arena, starting with referrals from satisfied residential customers.

Now one of the region’s leading construction firms, CDC Builders is proud of a portfolio that includes the Cisneros-Fontanals Art Foundation in Miami, The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, the Coral Gables Westin Colonnade, the historic McAlpin Hotel in Miami Beach, and prestigious residences throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

In 2008, CDC Homes and CDC Construction were created as two separate divisions, recognizing the customized services that clients need. CDC Homes is dedicated to the new construction, additions, and renovations of single family homes in South Florida’s most desirable neighborhoods. Under the leadership of Ward Farren, CDC Homes also handles interior build-outs and renovations for luxury condominiums. CDC Construction, led by Rick Ake, builds a full range of commercial, hospitality, institutional, and specialty projects.
